Hi -
I am trying to set up the serial port to communicate to a data-logger
device - can't get it to work. I am using an IBM ThinkPad 600e, Windows
2000. My COM3 is used for infrared to my Palm Pilot, and COM4 is tied up by
the internal modem. So I tried to create a COM5 to set up the RS-232 port,
and get status - This device cannot start (Code 10). There don't appear to
be any conflicts.
Any suggestions?
Thanks -
Brian

AFAIK, without a separate serial port card, you can't have more than four COM
ports. There should be a PMCIA serial port card that will work with your
laptop. Go to the store where you bought the machine, and check it out.
