My laptop has a wireless card. my router is a wireless
one. would like to use my wired connection when I'm at
home--it's faster--but cannot set up network to allow
that. if I disable the wireless, it wants me to dial-up,
which I ardently refuse to do. my netword setup wizard
keeps giving me a "Spooler SubSysytem App"--even though I
have no printers attached at all--removed them.

Before running the wizard, enter this line at a command prompt:

net stop spooler

After running the wizard, enter this one:

net start spooler

FYI, I do the same and agree that a wire connection to the router is
much faster, so I use it at the desk. I find, though, that all I have
to do is plug in the LAN wire and XP notices that and switches
automatically to this "better" connection. I've search for where it
might be configured to have this preference, and can't find it. I offer
it to you because perhaps you can find on your setup where this setting
might be.

For me, it's "just works". I didn't do anything special to make it
work, so I'm not sure why. But it might be worth your while to take a
look for such a setting.

I have a Linksys wireless card running on XP Pro on a Toshiba laptop
(for what it's worth).

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.
