Are there any web sites that walk you through how to establish a small
network for the home that has a few computers?
I have a new computer (which runs on Windows XP) and two other computers
(which both run on Windows 98) that I have all connected through a router to
share a cable internet connection. I have my printer attached to the new
(XP) computer & would like to set things up so that I can share this
printer, as well as files within this LAN. I would consider myself somewhat
knowledgeable about computers but have never dealt with networking before.
Thanks for any help

1. Open XP's "Help and Support" program.
2. In the Search box type in: HOME NETWORKING , and hit enter.
3. Click on the tutorial titled: "Steps for creating a home or small office network".

There are many web sites available ... I don't know any offhand to
recommend. Use Google. Maybe even go to your internet router's
manufacturer web site ... they often have good articles. Also see the
documentation that is provided with this machine.

Also available are many books ... visit a book store and scan the
offerings and pick one that you like.

Finally, available to you *now* is a lot of information in "help" on
your computer. Search for "home network" to see what's available.

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.

Greetings --

Usually, WinXP's Networking Wizard makes it simple and painless --
almost entirely automatic, in fact. There's a lot of useful,
easy-to-follow information in WinXP's Help & Support files, and here:
