Hi everybody,
I have two computers and a broadband connection (which is on the first
computer) other computer is not connected either to the first computer or
internet we are using a router now I want to connect both computer to each
other using the router and access internet with both computers. Please help
me as I am a novice to networking

Hi, firstly you must connect 2 computer to each. You can make it Lan
to Lan with cross cable.. If your broud band connection using on usb.
After this you can connect one of them to Internet, but there must be
your internet was shared for using another computers or users..

Second way, is more easy.. Just now most of router has got 2-4 Lan
port, if you can setup your hardware 1 time.. Both of your computer
will be connect to internet..

Hi azerbaycan,
Yes I have the router which supports 4 Lan ports. If I connect using these
ports can I take printouts of files on the first computer to the printer
which is connected to second computer.

You have to go into the Control Panel/Printers on the computer where
the printer is connected, right click on the printer and select share.
Then on the other computer add the printer. Then you can print from
any computer on the network as long as the printer and the computer it
is plugged into is turned on. Some routers have a port where you can
plug the printer directly in it, but I have never used this feature.
Also if you share the drives on all the computers you can transfer the
files from one computer to the other.
My broadband modem is plugged into a port of the router so all my
computers have instant access to the internet regardless of whether
any of the other computers are turned on. You may need to call the
provider to set the modem & router up to do it this way (I did).

You also need a printer that allows networking, there are a few (more
than a few?)that do not support networks.
