How to Set Up a Conference Room as a "Resource" in Outlook 2003

Ok, I plagiarized the title from some one else but it is accurate. I
currently have an Exchange 2003 server with calendars that people can access.
Now, they would like to have some of these calendars as resources they can
manage.
I have read that in order to have that ability, a related mailbox needs to
be created. I am ok with that however I do not want to lose the information
that is already saved or established within these calendars.
How would a person take existing calendars (with no mailboxes associated),
convert them so they did have mailboxes and finally, were manageable as
resources?

(bump) I am still looking for a method to do this. Does anyone have any ideas?
 
Just drag the items from one calendar folder to another.

Thank you for your reply. I won't pretend to know a lot however I am
capable, so any assistance is appreciated. Currently, a decision was made to
delete the calendars that were in use. This same calendars were generated
from a client not on the server. I've since generated a folder within the
public folder store. Now, I'm trying to create calendars that can be used as
resources.
I currently have both a public folder made on the server, which has now
replicated and is visible. I've also generated a profile of the same name
and gone into the properties for that folder to generate responses like I've
read. Now I am currently stuck, I'm not sure which calendar to use and how to
make set it up so that it will work as a resource. If you could provide any
extra insight, I would appreciate it.
 
No, that's the whole point: A public folder can't accept meetings, reject conflicting meetings, etc. like a resource mailbox Calendar can.

Ok, with that said and following the information from the web link you
shared, is there any way for a 'resource' to be viewed in a similar fashion
that calendars located within the public folders are viewed? Or, do users
need to add the resource, to their own mailbox so they can review it?
