How To Set Default Phone Nr Format BCM 2007

A few weeks ago I enetered a new account in BCM 2007 from South Africa. This
somehow set the default format for all my phone information to South African
format. Nearly all my contacts are US. Can anyone help me understand how to
set the default format back to US numbers ?

Do Outlook Contacts' phone numbers work differently? I believe BCM
defers phone, address, email, etc., formatting operations to Outlook.
