How can you setup an automatic shutdown when a PC has been logged out and
inactive for a certain period of time (eg 2 hours)? Is there a registry
setting? Thanks

Check out hibernate settings in Control Panel> Power Options. Hibernate
writes all "open" data (open programs, open documents) to disk. Then shuts
the computer down. When you restart later, Windows starts to load. Then it
rebuilds the "state" that was saved to disk and you pick up where you left
off.

An important caution with using hibernate: If you are going to make a
hardware change, start up the machine to let hibernate return the system to
its previous state. Then shut down normally. Make your hardware changes and
then start the computer again.
