When I currently boot my computer (with two WinXP installations on two primary partitions)
then ALWAYS my second WinXP system is pre-selected.

How can I...

a) define a certain WinXP system ALWAYS as default boot system?
b) Define the last used WinXP as default system?

Moreover the first WinXP should be on top of the list (currently it is on the second line).

Click Start / Run / msconfig.exe {OK}, then click the "boot.ini" tab. Now
click the desired default line and click the "Set as Default" button. It
does not matter if this is the first or the second line.

First, "help_and_support" is a group for addressing issues you are
having with "Windows XP "Help and Support" features. <Follow up has been
changed to the correct group.>

As to questions A) and B)

press WinKey + Pause/Break
Click Advanced tab
Click the Settings button for Startup and Recovery
Set the Options as desired.

Oh, really? You've got your work cut out correcting the overwhelming
majority of questions posted in that group, then! [Help and Support added

Yes, I suppose the title on the page "Start- Help and Support Feature
Discussion" isn't specific enough.

Where are you seeing that - specifically, the word "feature"? The MS webpage
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/...blic.windowsxp.help_and_support&lang=en&cr=US
is headed "Discussions in Windows XP Help and Support"; the newsgroup on the
MS server is just called "windowsxp.help_and_support".

That aside, the lines between various XP groups are pretty blurred anyway.

Here is the link to the "web interface" where I see most of the people
posting from.
