I got some informations about tools to list the content of MDW files.

For more informations search the WEB for "Advance Office Password Recovery
Pro" or check www.elcomsoft.com (or other sources I found just now in some
postings in this newsgroup).

This mean: I can download such tools from the web an then I have access to
data in MDB - or: my data in any MDB file is open to anyone - there is no
security!!!!!!!!

Question: Is that true??? Is there no way to secure a MDW file??? (I have
not found anything!)

Information: We have products/applications where we use the Jet Engine. So,
if you install our products, you will have MDB/MDE and MDW files installed.

AFAIK, You can secure an .mdw file just like you do a .mdb file ... however,
that's not going to stop a malicious person from using the same software on
the .mdw file. Access/Jet is a desktop database environment; it was never
intended to keep determined crackers out.

If you want a more secure solution, consider moving to SQL Server (or some
other more secure data environment) and using a different program (like VB,
Delphi, C, C++, one of the .NET products) to implement your application.

Thank you for your reply!!
