Receive so many great pics in Powerpoint presentations on the web. How do I
save some of them to use as wallpaper?

Are they .ppt or .pps files?
If yes, then open up the presentation in PowerPoint, click File > Save as.
Under save as type, click on the dropdown. Look for Web page.
Click Save.
Now, look into the output folder for the images.

When I couldn't open the mail I saved the .pps file to my desk top. When
opening the file there is no way I can see to follow your diorections. I am
unable to open it i Powerpoint.

You won't be able to doubleclick it but start PowerPoint then choose File, Open
and browse to the PPS.
