How to save Hard disk info if cannot login to laptop

Dave

Unable to login to W2K.

User changed Network Identification from a domain name to
a workgroup and cannot login NOW! Message says User
Account blocked on first attempt to login!

Is it possible to install XP on top of W2K so that I can
gain access to hard disk information?

Is there another solution?

If user was defined for a particular domain and the
Network identification is now set to a workgroup is there
a way to login?

I hope someone can help!

Hi,

You should be able to login using the system's original local
Admistrator account.

If you don't know the password it can be reset using this tool:

http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/bootdisk.html

.....& then rejoin the computer to the domain. Do not give the user admin
rights again.

.. . . then plan ahead and create a second local admin account!

And lastly: What's happened to the noble art of backing up
your important files every week or more often? Next time
you might be faced with a thrashed hard disk - it happens
all the time!

One reason I've become very fond of www.centered.com - SecondCopy2000. I use
it to make scheduled syncs of laptop/remote PC data to the users' home
directories, etc. Lots of bad things can happen to laptops!
