I think my system is hosed.

When I start the computer I get a stop error message...

(see Microsoft Knowledge Base article #156640 regarding a
Stop Error Message)

So how the heck do I start the computer into the command
prompt to run chkdsk /p or run Recovery Console?!

We've already tried booting from the Windows 2K CD (I get
the same error) and loading the last known good registry.
Nothing works.

I'm hoping someone can tell me how to run the Recovery
Console and get out of this stupid mess!

P.S. I'm using my computer at work to post this.

CDROM boot.

R -- Repair

It's a choice on the next screen. You must know THE
Administrator password.

It's on the CDROM from the regular boot but choose R then
Recovery Console.

I presume you have already tried F8 Safe Boot (if you reach
the first Win2000 text screen before it loads most drivers.)
