Word How to rotate individual letters in word 2016

I am printing labels using a template. I need to have some labels be vertical and would like them to look like this :

S
h
e
l
f

a

So I'd like to enter the word as 'Shelf a' then rotate each letter, not the word, 90 degrees.
I know how to rotate the word but can't find an answer for what I need.
The reason I need to do this is these labels will be on the vertical part of the bookshelf and need to be readable top down.
Any ideas ?
