How to restrict CDRW features in XP Pro??

Hi... there,

Appreciate if anyone can advise how to restrict CDRW
features which is build in with windows XP-Pro.

Now a day, all notebooks are come along with CDRW/DVD
Combo drive, and windows XP support CD burning without
requiring any additional software.

Due to data security reason, I need to restrict writing to
CD, but DVD/CD playback and reading features remain.

You are posting in entirely the wrong group, but fortunately I know how to
help you out!
You need to disable the IMAPI service, (go to Administrative tools in
Control Panel, then select "services". Find the IMAPI service, right click
it and choose Properties. Set the startup type to disabled and click the
button to stop the service). Of course, if your other users have
adminstrative rights, and they know what they are doing, then they will be
able to re-enable it, so make sure you have configured your user permissions
appropriately.
