Wanted to disable some services - need to re-install or restore .msc? any help appreciated.

Hi,

..msc is a file extension - not something you reinstall. What exactly is
wrong with your system in relation to this file type?

You need to type mmc, if you want to make a console for snap-ins. You can
get a readymade one by right-clicking Computer and selecting Manage, which
has the most commonly used snap-ins, including Services.

I usually start them from Command Prompt, RUNAS Admin, on XP. To get the
list, type:

dir c:\windows\system32\*.msc

ss.
