Now you know why it would have been smart to back up your stuff first.
Your computer is in an unknown state and you are going to need to do a
clean install of Windows. This means that you'll need to try and
retrieve the data first. You may be able to do it with a rescue cd such
as Knoppix or a Bart's PE. You may need data recovery software. Using
any of those things requires having another computer available and
having a fairly high level of computer skills. Only you know your
abilities; if this isn't something you can do then take the machine to
a professional computer repair shop that has experience in doing data
recovery. This will not be your local version of BigStoreUSA.

Once you get your data off, do a clean install. Since you have a laptop,
you probably have a restore disk or method to return the machine to
factory condition. Refer to your laptop manual for details.
