How to repair Windows 2000 w/SP4

I can't set up windows in my computer. I used the 4-
bootable disks to boot it. It can be booted but can NOT
be set up. I tried to repair the SYSTEM files but failed.
Because I downloaded and installed Service Pack4 in my
computer(windows 2000) before. But I only have the CD of
Windows 2000+SP1 that came with my DELL computer.
I am trying to uninstall the SP4, but I don't know how to
do that using DOS command and how to get into the folder
c: \winnt\$NtService Pack Unistall$\? (I only can use DO
S since windows can't be set up)

PLEASE HELP!!! (I don't want to format the HD)

Without formatting the hard disk you can retrieve the OS

There the following ways to retrieve your data with

1.Have you tried last Known good configuration ?
What is result of that ….

2. Install windows on another folder (i.e. C:\win2K etc,
with installable bootdisk ) after installing you will get
access to your system.

If you chose to archive files during the SP4 install, you can uninstall SP4
through recovery console by following the steps listed in the article below:

Thanks a lot! The article is helpful.
I started the windows recovery console but stuck at
administor password. I didn't set up the admin passwd
myself. I thought there is no admin passwd and typed
ENTER. but got the error msg --- the password is not
valid. My pc is Dell Dimension L866. How can I get or
reset the administor password?
