How to repair or re-install Address Book

My system is Windows XP professionel. A conflict has appeared when I wanted
to send an email with an audio message included in the background in Outlook
Express 6.00.2900.5512 with the Address Book. Since then I can't open my
emails. Neither can I open my Address Book. I get the following error
messages in French: 1) Echec du chargement au Carnet d'adresses. Outlook
Express n'est pas configuré correctement. 2) Impossible d'ouvrir le Carnet
d'adresses. Le Carnet d'adresses n'est peut-être pas installé correctement.
3) Impossible de démarrer Outlook Express. Il n'est probablement pas
installé correctement (0x8004104F). I can receive emails in Outlook Express
but can't open them. I have downloaded a BETA version of IE 8 but this has
not helped me. I used to have IE 7. CAN SOMEBODY HELP ME?

Assuming MS Outlook (or MS Office) also installed:

• Do you have this Registry key?...

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\WAB\WAB4

• If not, STOP; If so, is there a DWORD named UseOutlook (NB: no space) and
is its value set to 1 (one)?

• If not, STOP; If so, Address Book is configured to share contacts with
Outlook, even if you don't use it (can happen with the install of Office).
Change the value to 0 (zero), close REGEDIT & reboot: Address Book should be
available to you and all should be well. (If that DWORD is not present,
don't create it, and don't alter any other DWORD values.)

Note that any changes (additions, deletions, edits) made while sharing was
enabled will not be available (displayed) in Address Book when sharing is
disabled.

Il semble que ton Carnet d'Adresses soit corrompu.
Inspire-toi de http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917288/fr pour tenter de
réparer le problème.

(Remarque : sur cette page traduite approximativement, remplace la ligne
C:\Documents and Settings\<utilisateur>\Desktop\backup.wab par

Si Oscar a WinXP SP3 (et c'est certain: 6.00.2900.5512), je douterais de que
MS06-016 pourrait avoir posé le problème, Luc.

Oui, j'aurais dû préciser que j'ai indiqué cette page uniquement pour la
procédure de réparation du Carnet d'adresses dont de suivre de l'item 2
jusqu'à l'tem 8.
