How to repair IE 6 within WinXP Pro

I haven't had WinXP Pro very long, but I'm
not liking it. I keep getting IE Error Reporting
requests (5-10) per day. I tried to find it in
Add/Remove Programs (as in Win98) but
no luck. It is in WinXP or did they do away
with it. If so, how can I do a repair without
loosing everything.............TNX
 
IE6 does not have the repair option like IE5 had. It's not a WinXP thing,
it's just an IE6 thing. You can try this. Copy the fiollowing to a file named
"fixie6.bat" Then run it.

Check and see if IE is able to connect. If this fails, run Windows System
File Checker

Put Windows Installation CD in CD drive

Start -> Run -> CMD -> ok

sfc /scannow

Check and see if IE able to connect.

But tell us more about your problem. Reinstalling or repairing IE probably

You're right. I had a probelm last week with IE6, maybe like what bubey has.
I ended up having to reinstall files with sfc. But that messed up my OE6 and
SQL Server 2000. Altogether it took WAY too much time to fix. I was almost
ready to reinstall Win 2k.

I see two replies containing nothing but some unknown attachment.
I don't get notified of replies but I saw yours and ignored them because
they were blank.
 
Frank, I tried to attach the error msg that I had
received.
You had ask me to tell you more. The error msg's
are
varied. A MS Window pops up asking me if I want
to
send the error info to them. Doesn't matter if I
click
yes or no, when it's done IE then closes down
completely and I have to start all over on what I
was
doing. This happens up to 10x per day. A real
paid
in the .............. I really don't want to have
to re-install
XP. My feeling is that's the easy way out and you
never learn what caused the problem. I remember
back from the days of Win 3.1, if the tech
couldn't
figure it out he/she would say re-install the OS.
Easy for them but a lot of work for us, back ups,
re-install software etc.
