For millions of unhappy Fujitus customers, you may want to retrieve
your data from the dead hard disk. Instead of paying few hundred US
dollars for specialist, you can try the following.
(I put this long subject so that people find it. )
Here is my case.
I got a 40G MPG2409AT less than 2 years and my PC's BIOS started to
refuse recognise it. I didn't know which part gone wrong in the
beginning. Two weeks later, I searched on the internet and know it is
faulty because of the Cirrus Logic chip.
I tried the following and manage to retrieve 5G of data.
Connect the hard disk as Secondary master hard disk, disconnect the CD
ROM. (I think this will make the copy process faster). Grab an ice
block and wrap it with plastic bag. Put the wrapped ice on the Cirrus
Logic chip for 1 minute. Then turn on the PC and the BIOS may be able
to see it. Leave the ice block there and replace new one from time to
time. Copy data over as fast as you can.
Good luck for everybody!
