DAT file? Made by what application and for what reason do you need to
'repair' it?
Is this your NTUSER.DAT (registry entries) file in C:\documents and
settings\<username>?
If so - not only am I unsure if you can repair a corrupt one - it probably
is not worth the trouble if you could. Better to rename it and let Windows
create a new one and you just fix all your settings and such that it held
back to what you want.
Lemme delve into this a little further. My corrupted file says c:\documents
and settings\networkservice\NTUSER.DAT. Says it's corrupt and asked for a run
of CHKDSK. Which I did numerous times. It did nothing. I have a file
NTUSER.DAT in C:\documents and settings\username but I can't rename it or
delete it. I'm also interested in your direction to have windows create a
new one. Just how does windows create a new one?
I can't FIND c:\D & S\NetworkSerrvice. Any suggestions on where this
subdirectory is hiding?
