Hello,

I have a Dell 4400 system I boughtin Feb of 2001 and
between my wife downloading everything she could find on
the web and the games that were added and removed
incorrectly, The computer is constantly freezing up and
going to blue screens and is just giving one error after
another.

I guess my question is How do I renistall or reconfigure
my PC so that it reformatted back to the original
settings, just like I pulled it out of the box?

I have burned all important files and pictures to CD's
would just like to start over! The system is a ggod system
with plenty of spped and storage. It has just been screwed
up beyond minor repair. I have tryed the dell restore
feature, but it will only go back a few months and these
porblems go much further back than that.

System Specs:
Dell 4400
1.4GZ
128MG Ram
120GB Hard Drive

Any one that has some instructions to do a complete
reinstall or has some suggestions I would greatly
appreciate the help, As mentioned it is a very nice system
and I'm not ready to go to a new PC.

Thanks,
Michael

The Windows XP CD is bootable and contains all the tools necessary
to partition and format your drive. Follow this procedure and allow
Windows XP to partition and format your drive:

1. Open your BIOS and set your CD Drive as the first bootable device.
2. Insert your Windows XP CD in the CD Drive and reboot your computer.
3. You'll see a message to boot to the CD....follow the instructions.
4. The setup menu will appear and you should elect to delete the existing
Windows partitions, then create a new partition(s), then format the primary
partition (preferably NTFS) and proceed to install Windows XP.

5. Clean Install Windows XP

6. After installing Windows XP, be sure and visit the support website
of the manufacturer of the computer to download and install any
available Windows XP compatible drivers, such as video adapter
and audio drivers.
