I have just bought WinXP Pro Upgrade and upgraded my
windows from Win 2k. I found out that I now have a
Windows and a WINNT directory, and the amount of files
went from 40k+ to 80k+ (Norton said that) So Im sure that
when it upgraded it did not remove the old windows 2k.
Is there a way for me to remove the actual Win 2k program
without corrupting my WinXP?

Well the best thing to do is to leave it be, the WINNT
folder has files that are used by WinXP, only the way to
get rid of it basically is to format the hard drive and
instll a clean install of winxp, thats more hassle than
its worth, so I suggest just keeping it the way it is

You should definitely be careful when doing this, especially if both folders
are on the same partition/drive. While you're in XP, go to Start\Run and
enter "%windir%". Make a note of the folder that pops up - this is your XP
install location. If this is indeed WINDOWS, then WINNT probably does
correspond to your Win2K installation. If you decide to go ahead and
backup+delete WINNT, you should stop there.

In other words, don't try to clean up Program Files, since XP is now using
that folder too.
