searching for answers I found there are other people with
the same error only on different sites, but everyone is
guessing on to how to get rid of it.

Rainey,

First, you must determine if the system is totally free of malware.
Show hidden files, folders, and system files :
http://www.xtra.co.nz/help/0,,4155-1916458,00.html

Do a scan of the system in Safe Mode ( http://snipurl.com/dmbp )
with these programs in this order:
Norton Antivirus
Microsoft Antispyware ( do a Full system scan with all 3 options boxes
checked )
AdAware SE ( choose the Perform full system scan option )

IF the system is now clean and you're still getting the error message,
use the System File Checker tool to scan all of the protected files on
your computer:

Click Start, and then click Run.
In the Open box type in sfc /scannow
Click OK.

Note: You may be prompted for the Windows XP installation cd.

Please keep us posted on your progress towards resolving the error message.

Get HijackThis.exe from
http://tomcoyote.org/hjt/hjt199//HijackThis.exe

or
http://70.84.70.85/hjt/hjt199//HijackThis.exe

Save it to C:\hjt (new folder) then Open it and select
Scan and Save Log. Note where you saved the log then
send it to me as an attachment.

Let's start there. Then, while still on line, open a cmd
window (Start, Run, cmd, OK) and type:

nslookup ebay.com

It should come back with:

Name: ebay.com
Address: 66.135.192.87

Did it?

Now open IE and tell it you want to go to 66.135.192.87

Do you see the ebay home page?

I have seen your problem being caused by DNS hijackers or
by newdotnet but I won't be able to tell until I see your
log. Please send it to me and put Hijack in the subject
and give me a brief desription of the problem. I get a
lot of emails and can't always remember which problem goes
with which sender.
