Whenever I edit a text box in a predefined slide design the background turns
to bright red which makes it very difficult to see what I am typing - apart
from being quite blinding. As soon as I exit editing them they change to a
clear/white colour. How do I edit the slide design so the text boxes remain
clear when I edit them?

The color it turns when editing is a function of the text color and the
background color with maybe some other stuff thrown in. In other words, it
can't be controlled.

I used to have a template that was, if I recall correctly, something like
black background with cyan title text, yellow bullets and white text -- and
it would turn red when I'd edit certain textboxes. Ugh, nasty. I think it
was when I'd highlighted one word in the textbox with cyan. Something about
that color combination brought out the red in PPT. :-)

I guess you could temporarily change your color scheme and then change it
back when you're finished editing.
