I have recently moved a large amount of data from a file
server to a NAS device. The server is still used as a
print server and has not been removed from the domain. A
number of laptop users in the organisation use the offline
file synchronisation feature of Windows 2000 to allow them
to have access to documents when away from the office.
The problem is that although I have deleted all the
offline files that related to these obsolete shares on
these client machines, shortly after connecting to the
network the offline files balloon pops up stating that the
server in question is offline. This in itself would not
be so bad, but as soon as the PC thinks the server is
offline, it then wont allow the client to connection to
any of the network printers on that server. If you browse
to the server via either a UNC or explorer, none of the
shared printers can be seen, all other network services
appear to be fine. This is a real headache!!! Try as I
might, I cannot seem to remove references to these old
shares.
Has anyone else come across a similar problem? Can you
suggest a solution? Thanks.
