I had set up a windows 2000 server box as a new, different active
directory server while testing and deciding whether to create a new
domain or try to upgrade our old Windows NT Domain. The old domain was
named olddomain and the new domain was named olddomainad.
After I did this all the client computers in the domain showed both
domains in the logon to domain list.
After once I decided to upgrade to old primary domain controller to
enable an upgrade, I did the upgrade and configured the domain upgarde
in mixed mode since we still have a few old win nt servers in service.
After upgrading the PDC to Windows 2000, I ran dcpromo on the testing
server and uninstalled all Windows 2000 directory services on the
computer. after several re-boots, I then joined the new upgraded
active directory.
I have since manually removed to old PDC from the primary active
directory server use and setup two other widnows 2000 dns/ad servers.
The problme I am having is that the olddomainad domain still appears in
ALL the client computer's domain lists and on the new AD servers, I get
errors in the event logs wen they are looking for the olddomainad
servers.
I know that problem reside on the computer that was the original
olddomainad server, I just can't figure out was registry setting will
need to be whacked, espcially since this server is now the primary
server for the domain (all schema setting, etc have been set to the new
server from the upgraded server)
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
