How to remove MM 2?

I have a client whos' MM 2 seems to be damaged. (Some of his tabs for
options simply don't exist.) I suggested re-installing MM 2, but the
problem is that you can only get it via Updates. Of course the update reads
the system and it says MM 2 is already installed so it refuses to allow him
to download it again.

To make it worse, I see no possible way to remove it from his system to get
the update site to download it.

This is the worst catch 22 I've ever seen with updates...

Any suggestions? Is there a way to download it? Is there a way to remove
it?

If you have MM2.0 (from a download) and not MM2.1 (installed with XP SP2) I
recommend installing SP2 which will overwrite MM2.0. Make sure the computer
is properly prepared prior to upgrading to SP2. See
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/sp2/default.mspx and
http://support.microsoft.com/xpsp2getinstall. You really need to do the
following: Remove any virus or spyware that has installed itself on your
system. Run a defrag of the hard drive/s just prior to install. Remove all
removable devices attached to the computer (printers, USB drives/devices,
etc.) prior to installation.

I had a problem recently after a disk cleanup where a couple of files
necessary for XP to run properly was deleted. How the OS allowed this to
happen I don't know. I did a simple "repair install" by running the SP2
installation program (I have it downloaded and secured on a CD) again on the
system. It not only repaired the problem, but also fixed another problem I
was having. I then ran Windows Update again. System is running great.

Nope, it was installed with SP2

The only way to uninstall it is to uninstall SP2.
What I usually recommend to everybody, whether they are having a WMM issue
or not, is to get a free disk from Microsoft with SP2 and all updates on it.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/updates/sp2/cdorder/en_us/default.mspx
This way if you ever have to reinstall Windows XP you can install SP2 and
all critical updates before connecting the box to the internet so problems
like the Blaster Worm etc... don't return. Also with this you can install
SP2 over itself without uninstalling and then redownloading it.
