how to remove incomplete install of xp

I recently upgraded from 98 to xp home. I was having trouble installing xp and had to start over multiple times. I finally got it working but now the xp loader offers to start two different copies of xp (windows or windows.000). How can I resolve this problem? Thanks in advance… cheers - R
 
First try this:
Msconfig>Boot.ini Tab> Check all paths. Reboot.
If that doesn't work, try the following.
