My Windows 2000 computer (upgraded from ME) has stopped recognizing my
CDROM/DVD drives in Explorer but continues to show them in the Device
Manager. I have removed the CDROM/DVD from the Device Manager and have
rebooted, at which time Explorer functions normally until the next reboot.
I have tried to remove the IDE controller from the Device Manager so that it
could be re-identified by Windows but get a blue-screen everytime.
How can I manually remove the IDE controller from the system so as to force
Windows 2000 to re-identify/reinstall the IDE controller.
