I have a 10 page article that list pages numbers via the header. I'd like
the last page to have no page number. However, when I remove the header
page number from the last page, it removes the page number from the other 9
pages.

Is there a way to remove the page number from only the last page?

Thanks,
Brett

try placing a section break at the end of page 9. You should then be able to
create a separate header for the last page. You will need to format the
header on the last page so that it is not the same as previous

I've tried all types of section breaks and they don't work. Everytime I
delete the page number on page 10, all pages numbers are deleted.

For this method to work, you have to break the link between sections (using
the Same as Previous button on the Header and Footer toolbar). But there's a
better method that doesn't require a section break. Use the following field:

{ IF { PAGE } < { NUMPAGES } { PAGE } }

Each pair of field delimiters (the things that look like braces but can't be
typed from the keyboard) must be inserted using Ctrl+F9, though you can use
the Insert Page Number and Insert Number of Pages buttons on the H&F toolbar
to insert those fields.

Go to Page 10, and enter the header. Turn off Same as Previous using
the button on the Toolbar. Delete the Page Number on Page 10. The
previous page numbers will retain their numbering.

Which toolbar are you referring to? On the header toolbar, I have next and
previous header but nothing referencing what you mention.

Brett

Go to Page 10, and enter the header. Turn off Same as Previous using the
button on the Toolbar. Delete the Page Number on Page 10. The previous
page numbers will retain their numbering.

The Same as Previous button is the fifth from the right on the
Header/Footer toolbar in both Word 2002 and Word 97. Never used Word
2000. It is greyed out if no section break precedes the page you are on.
The function of the button is to break the link between the Header or
the Footer on the current page with all that precededs it. When it is
on, you will see same as previous reference above and to the right of
the header, or the footer. The reference turns off when the button is
clicked on the toolbar.
I use a section break between chapters, when writing to allow me to get
the chapter name into the header for each chapter, actually use an
odd-page break, and/or when items such as chapter number is required as
part of the page numbering.
All you want to do is to surpress the number on the last page - this
will allow you to do it. If you have further problems with this, it
might be a good idea to go to your local Barnes and Noble, pull and a
comprehensive MS Office book off the shelf and have a cup of coffee
while you look this up.

I've got it working now. The only problem is that I have to insert a new
break called "next page". This adds an additional page. I go back and
delete this additional page and my last page header is still section2, which
allows me to have no page number there while all other pages numbers remain
in tack.

How is it done with out having to add the extra page then go back and delete
it?

Thanks,
Brett

Rahter than a Next Page Section Break, try a Continous Break at the
bottom of page 9, go to page 10 , turn off Same as Previous in the
Header and then remove the page number.

Did you not see my previous response to your question? The method I
suggested will work much better than any solution that requires section
breaks. I will repeat it here.

For this method to work, you have to break the link between sections (using
