Windows XP fetches image files from the following paths:

BMP Files from C:\WINDOWS

BMP, JPG, GIF, JPE, DIB, PNG, HTM files from the following locations:

C:\Windows\Web\Wallpaper
C:\Documents and Settings\<USER NAME>\My Documents\My Pictures [& ALL
THE SUB-FOLDERS]
C:\Documents and Settings\<USER NAME>\Application
Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer
C:\Program Files\Plus!\Themes [*** & ALL THE SUB-FOLDERS ***]

If these are personal pictures, you will probably find the files in your
My Pictures folder in My Documents. Delete the files from there and
they will no longer show up in the Desktop wallpaper selection box.

I know. The OP said "I have saved some pictures in my desktop" -
presumably meaning "I have saved some pictures ON my desktop".....unless
proven otherwise!

I know you know and I should have made it clearer that I was replying to
the OP. ;-) You are quite right that the pictures could be saved on the
Desktop, but the normal complaint is usually about the vast quantity of
choices showing up in the wallpaper selection box.

Either way we've covered all possibilities for the OP! And again, I'm
sorry that my quoting got messed up.

Do you mean the actual files are sitting on the 'desktop' ie along with "MY
computer" and "My Documents" (etc)?. In that case just highlight the
unwanted files and press "Delete".
