How to remove e-mail address in Outlook To: "auto-fill" list.

I keyed a bad address sending an e-mail (Outlook 2003 e-mail "To:" field) and
now that entry appears at the top of the "auto-fill" list each time I key a
similiar address . How do I remove this entry ?

1. Start a new message
2. Type enough of the offending address so that it is highlighted
3. Use the delete key on your keyboard to remove it from the 'auto-fill' cache

(Haven't found any other way to do this yet .. and have been looking for
quite a while)

Hope this helps,

We have a utility for editing the NK2 (autocomplete) file. You can download
a demo of it at www.dcs-imaging.com/products.htm.

If you just have one or two names to correct there really isn't a point in
buying the software, but if you have many addresses that you' d like to
correct, or if global changes need to be made as in the case of corporate
domain name changes, our utility can prove quite useful.

Delete the .nk2 file if you want to lose them all. The file will get
recreated.

The big question is why after all these years does Randy have to make a
utility for the mammoth microsoft?

I've deleted an old address at least 5 times but it keeps showing up. I use
the new email address and press CTRL +K to fix the NK2 file to NOavail. Do I
epxect too much of the monopoly?

I'm not opposed to smart people complimenting a good product for profit. I
agree the problem is with the contact entry but what is it?

I've deleted all email addresses in this and many other contact entries
Closed the contact
Closed outlook
Reopened outlook
Put the email address I want in email 1
Then saved and closed the contact
Reopened to verify it took -- it did
I check the autofill by composing an email and the NEW email is found.

The problem is a few days later, at a time I can't pin down, outlook reverts
back to the old auto-fill address and the new email is still the only address
in the contact card email 1; email 2 & 3 are empty. What's causing outlook
to revert to an old NK2 Cache?

If the old address comes up when you start typing in the To field, that is
the autocomplete cache.
If it comes up when you press Ctrl+K, it’s the contact.

If outlook doesn't close properly it will not save changes made to the cache
during that session.
