how to remove custom keyboard shortcuts

Hi,

I love using keyboard shortcuts I assign for icons.
However, if you assign a keyboard shortcut to an icon,
then delete the icon without first clearing the access key
from it's properties, you will no longer be able to use
that access key with any other application. The setting
remains in the registry I suppose and continues to try to
launch the shortcut's target even after the icon has been
erased. I want to know where this information is stored
so I can clear the unused shortcuts and free them up for
use on new icons.

While I do not know where Windows keeps the setting, I can confirm
this. First remove the hotkey from the Properties of the shortcut,
then delete the shortcut. This will avoid the problem.
This will also work after you restored shortcuts from the Recycle Bin
for that purpose.
Else you have to wait some time. Windows will forget the setting after
some boots.
 
Good - I'm glad I'm not the online one and that it is
indeed a bug or bad feature or something of windows.

hope you are right. Time to start shutting down my PC
instead of putting it in standby...
