How to remove a "secondary" server

In our company we have two server win win2003 server there are the primary
server an one secondary server with have the replica of the active
directory, i have read many articles about to remove the "secondary" server
or how to promote this to "primary" but where are the best choise to remove
completly this server (is obsolete) from active directory ???.

Are you saying you have threee DCs and you want to remove one of them but
you do not know what the best practice is?
 
It sounds like you have two Domain Controller's (DC's) in your domain and
one of the machines hardware has become obsolete. I would recommend you
first promote a third server to be a DC via dcpromo. Once this is complete
you can demote the older server.

Hello,

yes it is a good way to promote a third server.
But you can also have only one.
For this reason it is necessary that all server rolles work on the first
server.
But i am not sure, that the rolles transfers automatic within the process of
depromote the second server.
