It took some time but I have managed to set up my contacts list to show 1st
from the Outlook Address book - I use Outlook 2003. But when i tried to
insert addresses in MS Word they would not show - again managed to over come
this. But know when I go to open Outlook is opens a dialog box wanting me to
open it with a 'profile' - this profile was for my ipaq which was removed and
deleted months ago, also when i insert an address in mS Word it shows a
different bathc of addresses than the ones saved in contacts in Outlook. Help
please to correct these + can anyone explain what's happened? Thanks

How many mail profiles show up in Control Panel>Mail>Show Profiles?

Just the one realting to my old ipaq. Thanks for replying.

Profiles don't "relate" to iPaqs. If only one profile shows, then you're
using only one and it's impossible to have Outlook ask for another.
Something's going on that's not fully explained by what you've included. I
can't tell what, I'm afraid.

Okay Brian, thanks again for you help but should I be going about this in a
different way? When I click on the address book button to insert an address
in MS Word the dialog box appears asking me to 'Choose a profile' - the only
one visible is for my iPaq. I didn't know I had set this up + the addresses
in here are different to my contacts in Outlook. So should I remove this
profile - if I do will Outlook etc. still work, am unsure exactly what a
'profile' is -any advice on where I could read about them?
Lots of questions here but hope you can still help - thanks

Perhaps someone else will be able to add something. I never use Word for
sending mail and so haven't any experience in how the mail functions work
with it.

When Outlook is called programmatically from Word, there is no way to
dismiss the request to select a profile. That option only exists when
opening Outlook directly.
