How to remove a program from installed programs that was deleted

I previously installed a program called Scansoft PFD Create! 3.0, but then
attempted to uninstall it through the normal "Remove Program" but it did not
work. I then deleted it and every file that I could determine was part of the
file. That did not work either. Now, every time, I "Right Click" on a file,
my computer attempts to reinstall the program. I have tried just about every
way that I can think of to remove it with no luck. It still shows up in the
installed programs but it does not have any way to remove it. I would
appreciate any help that you might have. Thanks.

It looks as if the old program is set as the default Open With

But you say 'every time, I "Right Click" on a file'. Do you mean every file,
or just files of a specific type (i.e. extension) ?

You could try
How to Remove Programs from the "Open With" List:

Another thought is Control Panel | Folder Options | File Types
If you scroll down to the file type (extension) that opens with the old
program, there will be
Details for 'xxx' extension and a Change button.
By clicking on this, you can change the program it opens with. This applies
only to that extension, of course.

Another thing you can do is open the Regsitry Editor and search for
'Scansoft PFD Create! 3.0'. Then remove any entries with that name. This can
be a bit risky unless you know what entries they are, but if the program has
been deleted I can't see that it would do any harm

I may be off course, and if so I am sure Ramesh will set us straight.

Reinstall the program, and then perform an uninstall again. If not, use the
Windows Installer Cleanup utility to remove the "Scansoft PFD Create" MSI
information from the registry.

One of the way to try to uninstall it by reinstalling it again into the same
folder you had before and then use the MS built in uninstaller to remove it.
