When I go to change desktop theme, there is a drop down list to select file
location. when I browse and choose a file, the file location is added to the
drop down list. What can I do to remove/edit this drop down list? I'd like
to do the same for Slide Show on sidebar.

Hi,

You're talking about Desktop *Theme* and not Desktop Background right? To remove entries from the Themes listing, you need to actually move/delete the *.theme files from these locations:

%windir%\resources\themes
%appdata%\Microsoft\windows\themes
%userprofile%\documents (and sub-folders)

Move the custom themes (which you want to remove from the listing) them to a different drive or folder. Do not delete the default theme files.

To clear the Desktop Background listing, see:

More information would help!
