How to remove a faulty plug&play driver?

I have a D-Link DU-CV video grabber USB device. The first driver
that I got didn't work. The updated driver I got from the weeb works,
but the old driver seems to mess things up every once in a while.

How can I remove the first, defunct driver? The driver does not
appear on Device Manager even if I view hidden devices (and the
USB grab thingy is attached, of course) , so that's a no-go.

Any help appreciated,

Pete

How are you determining that the first driver is still installed?
