A presentation that was passed on to me and later modified by me completely
has a copyright message that does not appear while editing but comes in the
print and print preview. How to I get rid of it?

Maybe that copyright message exists on the slide, and is in the same color
as the slide background and cannot see it -- but when you print, it might be
printing on a plain white background, and then you can see it?

My slide is white in color anyway... If the copyright color was white then it
would not print on white paper... Any other suggestions?

Are you printing in black and white / grayscale?

If thats the case, the copyright mark is indeed in white color.
Do a Ctrl-A on any of the slides. See if there is any 'invisible' object
being selected. If no, click View > Master > Slide Master. Do a Ctrl-A again.
If you find the invisible object on the slide master, delete it. Then close
Master View.
