how to relocate default .pst to another partition

I have a desktop with 2 users. I would like to change the default location
for my outlook.pst file to another partition to accomplish 2 things... easier
access for both users and more safety for the file itself in the event that
windows has to be re-installed. I cannot find the info on how this needs to
be accomplished. Any info or help would be grtly appreciated. Thanks

I am trying to move the outlook 2000 pst file from the default location to
another disk with more space, but I get a file access denied when I try to
create a new file within access and even when I move the file to the new
location and try to open the file.

Does anyone know a solution to this? I am running XP Prof and Office 2K SP3,
and the user account is poweruser.

Thanks.

Suresh.

Ensure Outlook is completely closed. (Ctrl+Alt+Del - ensure there are no
running instances of outlook.exe) REmove any PDA from its cradle as well.

Locate the .pst file, cut and paste to the new location of your choice.
When you open Outlook, it will whine until you point it to the new location.

NOTE: Access has nothing to do with this process.

Thank you for the reply Milly.

Sorry, I meant Outlook, not Access :). I tried the moving file workaround
and tried to make Outlook point to the new location, but it was giving a
"file access denied" error.

But I was able to solve it after all. I had to log in as administrator and
change the security level of the user on the folder to full control. Once I
did that, it worked.

Suresh.
