I am trying to reinstall Internet Explorer 6 sp 1. I downloaded the
IE6setup.exe from Microsoft.com. When I try to start the installation it says
it is initializing. I let it go for about 2 hours and it was still
initializing. Is there another way to reinstall this? Maybe someone can tell
me where I could go to get a different installation option. I also tried to
reinstall Windows XP hoping that would work, but the XP installation keeps
crashing. Help. Thanks.

Hi Kevin :-)

Just note for future reference: Please be aware that, unlike prior versions
of Windows and IE, you cannot uninstall/remove Internet Explorer from XP.
Internet Explorer is core to the XP operating system, it's built into the
program. You'll get an illegal operation message if you try to uninstall it.
Also, do not delete any IE files on your system or the overall Windows
system will be damaged and will not work properly, and you will have to do
reinstall XP. IE is also required to install some necessary updates and
patches.

Frank has already provided you with the proper information for performing a
Repair/Reinstall of IE in XP.

Hope this helps.

I understand everything that has been suggested to me. The problem I have now
is that when I open the IE6SP1.exe file to install, it just says that setup
is initializing and it does this for a long time. i usually have to end the
process. It's not even letting me get past that point.
