that article does not have a single mention of IE6 SP2, and further does not
say it applies to IE6 SP2:

The article does mention: "Windows XP SP2: Reinstall Windows XP SP2"
which confuses me because i thought the article was about reinstalling or
repairing internet explorer and outlook express in windows xp, and here it is
giving me directions how to reinstall windows xp sp2 without saying anything
about internet explorer or outlook express. if reinstalling xpsp2 is the
only method, they sure don't do a very good job of explaining so.
is your answer, 'it is not possible' to the original poster's question?

There is no IE 6 SP2. There is a Win XP SP2 and an IE6 SP1. Since IE 6 SP1
is 4 years old, with no information about future IE versions released, I'd
move on to Firefox - www.getfirefox.com.
