Hi all,

I have a situation where I have a complete image of a
Windows 2000 Adv Server. I want to install this on a
different machine. However the new machine has an update
version of RAID controller. After restoring the image,
when I try to reboot, I get BSOD. How can I install the
new drivers for the new RAID controller?

Help is much appreciated.

Hi,

you could actiion as below:

1. backup sysstate & system partition using NTbackup
2. reinstall a whole new windows 2000 on the machine using
a new hardisk.
3. copy the backup file to new windows 2000.
4. under safe mode, restore whole systme by NTbackup.

have a nice trying.

Richard is correct, you can't do an Image restore if the
array controllers are different. This has caused me to
make several versions of my base server images, one for
each type of hardware platform. Compaq has a habit of
changing the array controller without changing the model
number of the server so it comes as a surprise.

If I am wrong and someone knows how to restore an Image
(such as a ghost image) to a system with differing
hardware I would be very greatful to hear about it.

Mack.
