Some kind of transient error has caused my system to have
trouble booting twice. I did a "Recovery" with my Windows
2000 installation disk, but my user profile was hosed up
for some reason. A folder that contained all the profile
info (The Pruiett Family) was renamed (The Pruiett
Family.bck) and another folder was created by the system
(The Pruiett Family.PRUIETT). When I tried to copy all
the stuff from the .bck to the .PRUIETT folder all copied
except NTUSER which generated the error:

Cannot copy NTUSER: Data error (cyclic redundancy check).

How may I fix the NTUSER file?

P.S. I have done a CHKDSK/F and a Windows disk scan
finding no errors. I have performed full virus checks
(Symantec and McAffie) and found no viruses or trojans.

The "Data error (cyclic redundancy check)" indicates that you have a
hard drive problem. Basically the NTUSER.DAT file is sitting on a bad
block on the drive that can't be read. You can try running chkdsk /r but
you will likely develope additional bad blocks and will have to replace
the drive.
