The flash reader is now part of XP. .swf files show that they are flash
files. However, when I double click on them, they will not open and XP asks
to pick from list. However, shockwave reader is not listed in the
application list. If I launch IE, I can open the file and the flash will
play. I need to be able to open the file and play the flash without IE at a
trade show. Anyone know why XP does not show flash players? (I even
downloaded a new copy and installed it successfully, but XP still does not
show it in the programs list.

Doug, Thanks for the reply. I followed the link you gave me and clicked on
the download button. According to the page, when the flash indicates the
install is complete, it is finished.

I then clicked on Start > Control Panel> Add/Delete Programs, and there was
an entry to delete, so it appears to have installed. However, when I click
Start >All Programs, there is no entry for Shockwave in any main or sub
folder. Any ideas why it is not showing?

It would appear that this download is just a browser plug in as well. I had thought it was a stand alone player. What you can try is click Start, Run and enter SENDTO This should open your SendTo Folder. Create a new shortcut in this folder and point it to C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe Now, you may be able to right click your saved flash files and Send them to IE. I don't have any saved Flash content, so I can't test this.
