How to read WPS files

I am using XP. I received a CD that contains WPS files.
When I open these files I get a symbols. How can I view
this in English?

"probably" they are Word Perfect files. Nothing guarantees this of
course. To view, you need aprogram that can read Word Perfect files.
Word Perfect can do this. Word can do this. Perhaps the free
OpenOffice (www.openoffice.org) can do this...not sure. Perhaps you can
find a Word Perfect file viwer via internet search. Perhaps you can ask
the people who made the CD how they intended people to view the files.

No problem with Works.
