How to print on a form

This is OT, but I can't find anywhere else to ask -

Suppose I have a form in a format such as .pdf or .jpg.
I can print it and then hand-write entries onto it of course.
But is there a program to allow me to make keyboard entries into
fields on said forms? So they look better.

Or is this dumb.

I imagine the full-up Adobe Acrobat (not just the Reader) has those
capabilities. The Arizona state income tax forms online come in the
form of a PDF file that not only has fillable fields, but performs
calculations based on the entries in those fields.

Spend a little time on the Adobe website, you'll probably find what
you're looking for.

If you had it in a JPG format, you can load it into Word and set the
image properties to allow text to write over the image, not around it.
Now you simply have to use tabs, spaces, returns etc to place text in
the appropriate boxes. Also make sure the image is in the background
not foreground. Lame, but it works.

Google for PDF-Xchange viewer which allows typing into the document .

My medical insurance provider constructs claim forms which
I can fill in even with the regular Adobe Reader (version 9 for
me) as viewer. The form also totals columns.

Adobe will let you fill in forms IF the original document was designed
to accept intput like that.

For online forms I just use whatever will open them and let me add text
to them. If they are a graphic then I use PaintShop Pro to add text to
the image and fill things in that way. You could do that with most any
graphic program that will allow you to put text on an image. If it's a
paper form I'll scan it to a graphic and then use a graphic program
(PSP) to put the text on it. Some programs make it easier than others.
