When on Windows 98, we could set the settings to
print "front & back" automatically, but since using
Windows XP Home Edition, we have to manually turn each
page. This afternoon, I printed 38 pages - sitting beside
printer. When Page 1 printed, I turned it over to print
Page 2 and so on thru 38 pages. This is ridiculous. Can
someone help? Thanks.

Assuming you're using the same software to print (you aren't printing
from Win XP and you didn't print from Win98 -- you're printing from Word
or Works or some other word processor) this is most likely related to
the WinXP printer driver. Although WinXP provides drivers for a lot of
printers, they are -- especially for older printers -- pretty bare bones
drivers. They will print, but that's about it. No ink supply monitor,
and probably no duplex printing.

Go to the web site of your printer manufacturer and see if you can find
a driver for WinXP. Advice here suggests uninstalling the old driver
before installing the new:

What make and model of printer? What application are you using (e.g. Word
XP)?
