How to prevent unwanted color changes?

In PowerPoint 2003, I have several Excel worksheet objects. Certain columns
in the worksheet are shaded yellow, but when I double click on the object to
input data, the yellow shading in the worksheet turns to green or purple.
What could be the cause of this and how do I keep the colors how I want them?
 
Did you modify the color palette in Excel?

You might want to just turn on your picture toolbar, select the object on
the slide, choose Recolor on the picture toolbar, and set the colors for the
items there.
